Jaw Pain Treatment Options
After thorough physical and diagnostic tests, our aim is to reduce the amount of stress on the joints by finding ways to relax the jaw. There are many ways to achieve this and sometimes one or more methods will need to be employed. In Many cases, some additional measures may be taken:
Medication: We may prescribe something to ease the pain.
Dental Treatment: For some sufferers, dental work or the use of a dental appliance may alleviate the pain associated with TMJ. Simply improving the bite or the use of a nightguard to cushion grinding teeth can make a marked improvement.
In more advanced cases surgery may be required to correct/repair the disk between the joints.
