Porcelain Veneers & Crown Lengthening – Case 2

Ms J had been referred to us by another patient of the practice, and wanted to discuss improvements to her smile with Dr Dunn. As a young, attractive woman, her smile was unnecessarily aging her appearance, and the change to her smile would be more in line with her other striking features.

Ms J had crowding of her upper and lower front teeth, in addition to old resin restorations (fillings) which had stained and worn. There was also asymmetry to her soft tissues, which required a referral to our specialist periodontist for crown lengthening (or lifting up the gum tissues).

The diagnostics for the final veneers was extremely thorough. Through direct consultation with the patient a prescription was agreed upon as to the final appearance of her porcelain veneers, which was converted to a ‘mock-up’ on the plaster casts of the patient’s mouth. This was used as a guideline for the final preparation of the veneers and ensured the result was as the patient desired. Since completion, she has been ecstatic with the final result and can’t believe the difference it has made!
